Hemel-en-Aarde, formerly known as Walker Bay, is a relatively new appellation, just implemented in 2006. Walker Bay has been elevated to District status. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is close to the cool Atlantic coast. A touch of smoke, blackberry, and plum bathe the palate. Spiced cedar offers texture, with radiating back notes of roast coffee and cinnamon spice. The aromas linger as long as the satin-lined finish.

Southern Right is now a blend of Walker Bay and 30% Swartland grapes, a change that has given the wine more concentration and tannic backbone. Curated in 14% new wood, this is sappy, savoury and floral, with bramble and black cherry fruit and perfume to spare.

A vibrant red, with a core of ripe mulberry, raspberry and boysenberry fruit flavors. Light, supple tannins and lively acidity provide fine definition for the medium-bodied frame, and notes of violet, thyme, anise and iron linger on the finish.

The nose of this wine is subtle, but the palate is generous. It has aromas of peppercorn and berries and flavors of blackcurrant and other dark fruit. Excellent acidity and fine tannins provide energy and structure to this lively red.

You guys are doing amazing work. The Southern Right and Ashbourne Pinotage wines brought me back to the category after I had all but given up on that grape. Now I love it, and that is largely due to what you have done ... cheers to you!
