Southern Right Pinotage 2009 wins gold at the Classic Wine Trophy competition

We were really pleased when we picked up one of the only 10 available Gold Medals for South African red wine at the Classic Wine Trophy awards on Friday last week. We are extremely proud of the 2009, which is our first Pinotage of our 17 vintages to date to be made in the new Southern Right cellar.

The number of gold medals at this rigorous competition is limited to 17 (1 for sweet wine, 1 for Sparkling wine, 5 for white wine and 10 for red wine).

The Classic Wine Trophy differs from many competitions with its aim to recognize, reward and promote wines of elegance, balance and finesse with the ability to age well. To achieve this, an internationally experienced panel of 10 French judges is assembled each year. We particularly rate this competition’s aims which are far more in line with ours than most.

Our Pinotage has built an international reputation for being a more refined, classically styled expression of South Africa’s national grape.

Our Southern Right Sauvignon blanc was recognised at the 2009 Classic Wine Trophy competition when our 2008 was the only Gold Medal winner for a Sauvignon blanc.

All the best and we greatly appreciate your support of our wines!

Regards,

Anthony
